Dwarf Japgarden Juniper
| COMMON NAME | Dwarf Japgarden Juniper |
| BOTANICAL NAME * | Juniperus procumbens ‘Nana’ |
| ZONE | 4 – 8 |
| SIZE | 8-12” HT, 10-15’ SP (yes, it does say 10-15 ft) |
| FOLIAGE | Evergreen. Relatively soft texture, which is saying a lot for a Juniper. It layers upon itself as it grows. Works very well as a groundcover, though you may need to prune the perimeter to keep it within bounds, as in some of the photos attached. Is frequently used for a Bonsai specimen. Michael Dirr has seen very old plants that are 2 – 2 ½ ft HT. |
| FRUIT | Very small cones. Rarely noticeable. |
| GROWING CONDITIONS | Prefers full sun, but will tolerate part-shade. Will tolerate many types of soil, and can thrive under adverse conditions. Requires minimal attention. |
| NOTES | Deer Resistant. The one photo with an upright habit is a plant that has been carefully trained to grow in this manner. The natural habit is to spread along the ground and then mound upon itself as it ages. |
* A particular plant will have only 1 botanical name. Unfortunately, a particular plant may have several common names or it may share a common name with another plant. Whenever possible, use the botanical name.
